Reflection During the process college mag

College magazine

Working in media production context-professional practice

We had just enough time to do are college magazine so time management was a key part of the possess of my magazine. The only equipment i used was a camera, which i had constant access to, this acted to my advantaged. The only issue i really had was getting to grips with the different ways photo shop worked, which was a little hard to get my head around for the first couple of lesson as it was the first time i have ever used this program there for it took me a bit longer to complete my college magazine than i thought it would.

After developing some basic skills and ways of photo shop, i deiced i would cut round my image as well as colour in her top a brighter Orange to match my colour stream and her hair. As this stood out more for my readers.

The management of photographs was a bit hard at times as many of the students i ask to photograph like my self were drowned in student ways of life. Therefore i took to taking photos of my lessons or at a free eg taking picture of people doing there art work, or reserving for a test.

The lighting for my pictures wasn't really a problem for me as most of the places i took picture were full of natural light which help the contract of my photos.

Working with existing forms and conventions

The magazine has a serious and formal tone which is indicated by the student holding books and standing in front of a college like building. The student is also smiling and looks like she having a really nice time, this and the warm sunny weather and the warm light and tone gives the magazine a light hearted feel. This helps the magazine to welcome there readers/ target audience. The colours that has been used in this magazine front cover are blue, read, pink, orange ,green and white. All of these colours used help to repentant the summer months are they are warms and bright this helps to capture the audience. The masthead "C.U.E" is placed in the middle top of the page and all the latte rs are in capitals as well as it been placed in bold. The red front embellished the lively buzz and the elegance of the college/ university. The main image is of a student in a medium close up shot it is also high Moravian in high key lighting soft lighting. This student helps to give the co nation of a hardworking, fun loving bunch of people, who attend all there lesson this is seen by her carrying her books. The magazine has a promises buyer, for explain it says "win attractive prizes" this would grab the readers attention by the word "attractive" it makes it seem a really good thing to win. This magazine is also free and comes out every month so there for more people will get a copy of it.

Thinking about the audience.

Producing a questionnaire for my college magazine allowed me to learn about what people would like to see me in include. The feedback i received confirmed that my target age group like bright colours for example i try ed to pick the brightest blues and oranges to fit in with my age group, wanted this also makes my magazine standout.I also found out where they would prefer there main image would be and what topic it should of been taken of rather than lots of different images, from the choices they made. The image i took was a student doing work so there for it fits in with the busy work load and stress we go through for each deadline as well as it being a medium close up so you can see exactly what the student is going. I placed my masthead at the top of the page as i would believe this would help to address my audience this match the college logo in the style and colour. The background is a plain blue as it matches the colleges colour stream of the logo.

This shows that my magazine is for a multi sex genera as i have used neural colours that are not off en used to show a certain sex apart from the colour blue, the colours i used were blue ,orange and white which are suited for both male and female repenting.

Using technology

Technology enabled me to achieve a greater creativity to an extent because i used computer programmes, for example photo shop, which aloud me to explore the different aspects of the programme, therefore i learnt and used the basic parts to help me create my college magazine, Photo shop also helped me to have a professorial stranded to my work. I especially enjoyed being able to cut around my image with the magic wand as it helps to cut out any unnecessary bits to the picture there for you just get an outline which gives a very powerful ideologically of a student doing work at home or college as you cant tell were the image is set.

Despite this, the use of Photo shop did limit the creative process in some ways as i have never used it before i didn't know what most of the tools did so there for i stick to what i new. Apart from this Photo shop did advance me in places like changing colours of pictures, this shows how advance this technology this is.

The photography also didn't play must of a problem as they were all student i could access them at any time, as most of them had blocks off when did.
